he was seen killing the alfala field and needed to be stopped, i took my big groundhog rifle off the rack with a handfull of shells and headed out. he was spied at about 200 yards munching away and i began my stalk and as i got closer in i had to belly crawl the last 40 yards. i was in a good prone postion and waited for him to turn and as he turned he saw me and i think was going to charge, but i was quicker and sent a 44-40 slug into him and reloaded as quick as i could from the prone postion, but it was not needed. another alfala field saved from being eaten.

2400 powder and a 200 gr flatnose jacketed bullet, 1600 fps. targets are at about 60 yards. top target is with the baby sharps and the lower targer is with a winchester md 53, both in 44-40, spike buck shot with the winchester 53.

Eastbank,
Good hunting! I'm from west coast so I've never seen a woodchuck before. What a cool looking critter and you took a great picture. Was that a pretty big one? 200 grn. bullet at 1600fps. now that is sporting. MT
