I have a HB Savage 10FP with a 1 in 9 twist
in 223,Scope mounted is a Tasco 8x32x50 TT.
Question--Can this rifle handle a 75 Grain bullet for long range varmint shooting? If
not, what bullets are recommended for this type of rifle?

Sniper 1... I have shot both the Berger 75 VLD and the 75 A-max out of several Kreiger 1 in 9 twist barrels at 2,780 fps. Zero stability problems to 800 yds.

I shoot the 68 gr Hornady match in my colt with a 24" barrel. The 75 grainers are ok but the 68gr will make even smaller holes. I have not gotten the 75grain Amax bullets to shoot so S1 any info would be appreciated. Load data like powder charge and how close to the rifling would be good. I even got key holes with the 75 amax. It is the only Hornady product I have not gotten to shoot well. My ar15 shoots everything else below those weights amazingly well. Sorry for rambling.

H-BAR, I got my VS shootin' good with 22.5grs. H335 and 55 V-MAXs, 4 shots .194" wind took the 5th shot 5/8" left.

Start @ 23.5gr VV N540 and work up to 25.0gr and see how it shoots.

I use 25.0gr with my 80gr SMK's and got .15 groups @ 100yards and 2" groups @ 600yards..

hey ar15 does that 540 give as much velocity as they say? If it is that good I may try it. I have a colt 6724 flat top 24" with a 1:9 twist. Do you have any experience with this combo?
