Loads that work well in many rifles..

I purchased a Ruger m77 270 win a few years ago with a few boxes of handloads that the owner said produced 1 hole groups. Needless to say he was correct since then I've tried them in 4 other 270 Winchester's and all have shot sub Moa. I know many have great loads already but I thought I would share his load that has produced excellent groups for me in multiple rifles. 45.1 gr Imr 4064, rem cases, fed 210, 3.290" Sierra 130 sbt, velocity is 2830 ft/sec 24" barrel. Not a screamer by all means. Good luck to everyone and happy shooting....if anyone has any loads they wouldn't mind sharing for any caliber I'd love to hear other great results folks have had with loads that work in a number of rifles

.308 is a good calibre, do most jobs with 2 diff loads. I wouldn't use a suppressor as the recoil is no problem especially with a decent recoil pad. Maybe go to a local range, I'm sure someone will give you a shot out of a 308W and remember you'll feel the recoil a lot more over the bench than in the field. I noticed in another post you mentioned 44 mag for close bush work on pigs etc, I'd just use a 308 for the lot close & long range hunting, spend a bit more on one rifle. As for rifle brand give it a lot of thought maybe pay a bit extra. if you make the right choice you'll be happy and you will hand it down to your kids.

A load I found work well in all 25/06's I ve owned was a max dose of IMR 4831/117 gr Sierra and a mag primer. This has worked in all 3 of my rifles.

243 85gr Sierra HPBT with 43.5gr H4831. Not too fast, not too slow, but deadly accurate in every 243 I have ever owned.

Here are some loads that have shot great in almost any rifle.
25-06: 52 grs H4831 with most any cup and core 115 to 117 gr bullet WW or Rem case, CCI BR primer.
49 gr. IMR or AA 4350, Rem case, CCI 250, 117 Sierra or Hornady sp.
52 grs IMR or AA 4350, Rem or WW case, CCI BR primer, 100 gr Sierra Game King.

30-06: 150 gr cup and core bullet, most any case, CCI BR or Federal 210M primer, 51.2 grs IMR 4064.

270 Win. most any cup and core 130 gr bullet, WW or Rem case, CCI BR primer, 60 grs H4831.

308 Win. 125 Nosler BT, WW or Rem. case. CCI BR primer, 46 grs IMR 4895. (This is a great white tail deer load)

7mm Rem Mag 1:9.5T (typical factory twist rate)
140 gr Berger VLD @ COAL 3.310 or 140 gr Nosler Accubond @ COAL 3.330
67.3 gr RL 22 ( it's my understanding that 67-68 is generally a good range)
Fed 215 or CCI 250
Has worked with various brands of brass.
Should be around, or slightly less than, 3,200 fps from a 26" barrel.

These are very good posts I'll have to screen shot them and try them. I know many folks who love that Sierra 85 gr in a 243. I can vouch that it does a number on white tails on the east coast.

6BR 30.3 to 30.5gr Varget CCI450 and 105gr bullet of choice... if a 6br rifle won't shoot in the .3's with this I'd be surprised.
As close to a universal load as there is.

I've found them to be spot on when comparing to some of my go-to loads for some of my rifles and buddies. A good reference if your working up a new load for one of the cartridges he has listed.

42 grains of rl-17 or 42-42.5 grains of h4350 in hornady brass with a 140 eld for 6.5 creed. Those combos seem to do very well.

Love IMR 4831 in my Cooper Jackson Game 25/06 (24"). I run 51.0 grains under a 115 Nosler BT and the same charge for a 117 Sierra Game King. Here are some of my other "faves":

• .243: 95 grain Nosler BT on 41.5 grains IMR 4350
• 25/06: 100 grain Nosler BT on 54.0 grains RL-22
• 25/06: 87 grain Hornady SP on 56.6 grains RL-19
• 6.5 X 47L: 130 Berger VLD on 38.3 grains RL-15

Not to be a "kill-joy" gents but let us remind ourselves to back off and load a few check charges on the way up to make sure we don't get sticky bolts (or worse) adopting someone else's pet load.

Looked at the OCW loads link. Has anybody tried the .308 168gr with varget 46.0gr cci200? That's all the components I'm working with right now, wanted to see what other people's input on that load

Birdiemc, are you set on the 168's? I run the 175's and can say that his data with the 175's are within .1-.2 grains of what I have found to be the sweet spot with Varget in multiple 308's as long as you take his advice on brass/adjust as he advises. I've had good ES/SD and groups have held up at range. I don't follow his load development method although I think it has its merits.
