Good morning everyone!
Starting to reload for my new 7mm Rum. I want to buy the new ELD-X but not sure to get the 162 or the 175. Going to be using this gun for Elk and or bigger game. Any advise or tips what worked for you would be great.

Thanks
Scott

I use Retumbo in my 7mm RUM. I shoot both 168 vld and 180 vld , I use 94 grains on the 168s and 92 on the 180s with 215 primers. both are close to max loads for my rifle and Retumbo needs to be worked up slowly, I started around 88 grains and worked up
3.67 is my OAL on the 168s I dont see my OAL on the 180s, probably the same. Mine is a factory barrel so the free-bore is long. If it were a custom with a shorter Free-bore I would reduce the load by 10% first and work up. I mainly shoot the 168s through it for the range I shoot and a tad less recoil. I only shoot deer and hogs so the 175 may look better for bigger game :) good luck !

I also pushed 168lrab thru mine..used rl33, 91gr....26" sporter
shot 2950 over chrony.....nosler brass..coal 3.665 box lenght factory rifle...92gr shot just as well but 93gr loosened primers.....

My 26 inch factory Sendero runs the 168s 3300 and the 180s 3200 (magnetospeed) with Retumbo with decent pocket life. RL 33 is a real coarse powder and I shied away from it because of bridging. Retumbo is the same type but it is smaller grains. One thing about the LRAB is the jacket is paper thin and could be deforming in your bore and building pressure , I think there is something going on for your speed to be way down , my 28 inch 7wsm sends the 168s 3084

7rum was built for the 195 and 200 gr WCB or bigger and they didnt even know it when they built it ha ha..... that case loves RL33 Rl50 N570 And H50BMG.
no bridging going on here unless there is an air gap which will happen when running less than 80% case fill and stupid light bullets.
i just shot two 7 rum's two days a go using RL50 ran up to 3217 chrono with more to go with 195's and 3186 rl33 using 195's, this is the king of factory produced 7mm's. both of these powders were over 90% case fill .....match the powder to the case size, throat length, etc and youll be amazed. these big cases need big powder or lots of it to utilize there strength!!!

Well I sold mine.....might have to look for another one in the future.....
But also...sport barrel even at 2950fps liked to jump up an rip my hat brims apart....at 92gr rl33....93gr hit harder on hat brine and gave me headaches.....guess I am just a puss...

I wouldnt say that lol , I have only shot 1 rum on a small barrel and it made my shoulder humm

I put a Sims kickpad on it....not a problem...could have shot it all day long....just wasn't enticed to shoot the rum at 2950fps....get past that with 7wsm and 280ai....
Burnt lots of powder for nothing spectacular.....obviously I missed the real worth of the rifle...maybe I will look for one again....but his one is gone....
