I have been determining my COAL by using the bullet stuck in the case mouth and loaded into the chamber. I do this 10 times and take the average. My question is, say I get an average of 3.233, am I actually into the lands or just on them. I tried to color the bullet and measure the marks, but couldn't ever see the land marks on the bullet. Is my 3.233 actually a jam length and if so, how can I determine how far?

Go read my post on BULLET DEPTH that you posted. It will answer you question.
