This was my daughter's rifle but she just doesn't shoot it any more so it's time for it to move on.
- SS left hand Savage 4.400" bottom bolt release action. Varmint accutrigger
- 30" straight cylinder SS Brux barrel 6.5x57 Lapua (365rounds fired)
- McRee G5 chassis un-coated (my daughter named the rifle "Shiny")
I never worked very hard to find a load but it currently shoots well (MOA or better from a bipod/rear bag) out to 1000 yards with the Hornady 143 ELD-X at 2735fps. 100 yard groups are typically around .3 MOA with this load.
I've grown fairly fond of shooting the left hand action when prone and I can actually get off follow up shots almost as quickly as I can with a right hand action.
The barrel nut on this rifle has been drilled and tapped to take a set screw to make barrel swaps faster. It was one of my first attempts and it's not pretty, but the idea worked well. The set screw can simply be removed and the if you don't like it.
