Leupold

I took off the Leupold VX 3 2.5X to 8 X and put on a new Leupold VX 5 HD 3X to 15X with an illuminated dot, and side Focus, on my 270 Win. Ultralight . I think its just fine!! It was perfect in N. Carolina . I just needed to bring it closer to my eye when I hunted with lots of heavy clothes on my Jan Maryland Deer hunt. I have no experience with any handgun scopes.

Optics Planet still have Burris 3-12X BPlex scopes. I have about 12 of them on my Contenders,Encoes,XPs. Love them. Only had problems with 2 of them, ever. Were replaced by Burris with no hassles.

Hello,

They are not being discontinued. We are just currently out of stock. We should be getting more in April.

Thank you for contacting Burris Technical Support.

Ultradot 2moa 30mm gen 2 works great for me.

They also have their matchdot which you can dial….and it tracks well.

Took a cow elk at 220 yards in another thread on here.

The key….like all accurate shooting. Focus on the dot….just like you would a reticle or front sight. Thus the target should be slightly out of focus.
I have one of the Matchdots that I'm considering putting on a 460S&W. Have you had experience with them surviving on a heavy recoiling handgun?

For those of you with the Burris handgun scopes; How do you deal with the change in eye relief as you increase the power?
I have two Burris's, 2-8 and 3-12, and they are only useful on the low power settings because at the highest power the eye relief is only about 10 inches.

Guin4m, I've used the 3-12X Burris' so much I just automatically get my eye relief when I get behind the scope. I guess the secret is practice, practice...... I've done this so much that my eye relief doesn't change when I change powers, at least, that I can tell.
I have more of a problem with rifle scopes getting my eye relief, plus I'm a little reluctant to get close to them due to my glasses. Again, just a matter of practice. I have the Burris on my "big" guns, .375/.284 XP, .338 MagJDJ Encore, .325 WSM XP. Even with breaks I'm reluctant to get 4" from the scopes.
To me, the BPlex scope makes it so easy to get on game out to 550 yards without dialing, etc. that I never had a desire to change. I did a deer at 719 yds. with a friend's 7mmSAUM XP. He had to fool with calculations, dialing, it seemed like a while before I could shoot. I did a deer with my 6.5/.284 at 565 & a BPlex. All I did was range, place the right mark on the deer, and it died.
Options for extreme long shots on game in WV are rare and all my big game hunts in the west and Africa never had the need to go really long, so I've stuck with the Burris handgun scopes plus UltraDots & 2-6 Bushnells on my revolvers.
