I am looking to buy a new scope for long range shooting. I need to know if there is a differance internally with the var x 3 30mm tube vs the mark 4 tactial

thanks for the help

I have both of these scopes i much prefer the mark 4 but thats mostly due to the turrets , most say that there is no difference in the internal just the turrets are different and i dont know if there is or not for sure but the mark 4 clicks feel more positive and they take a little more effort to turn which i like, as for the glass i am not really a fan of leupy glass i buy them for the warranty and repeatable clicks, i have elite scopes that are noticably clearer than the leupys and they happen to track as well....im getting off topic here.......buy the mark 4

I have heard that the Mark 4 is a stronger scope but I would call Leupold and ask one of their techs. I have called them several times and it has always been fairly easy to get a hold of someone. It looks like they have made several improvements to the VX-III line.

Internally there is a difference. The 4's have a dual spring erector system compaired to the single spring of the 3's.

British F t/r champ used a 8-25x VX-III to win. He also used a Choate stock.

His rig is covered in article on http://www.6mmbr.com
