Leupold VX-6HD 1-6x24mm $1399 ??

I have a BLR I'd like to mount a compact scope like the Leupold VX-6HD. Are there any other scope makers that offer the quality but at any cost savings?
I did settle on the 30mm Seekins machined picatinny rings.

I'd look at the VX-5HD, saves you $500 right there and you get the same glass but one less on the zoom ratio.

Thanks. I did get the rings today and wow, those are some big-arse rings. They're wider than the BLR's receiver. No doubt they're super strong.
