I was curious now that the Leupold RX-2800 has been out for a while what peoples thoughts are on it? I have read everything I can find so far and the feedback has been limited yet positive as it was so new, with most reports coming from mid 2018. I saw Rex did a review and thought it was his best rangefinder he owned to date. He also says at the start of his review that his friends at King of 2 Mile claimed it ranged as well as the Terrapin X. If that is the case that is outstanding for the price. Have those here that have the Leupold RX-2800 been able to range steel out to a mile or 2000 yards successfully? I'm wanting to upgrade my Leica 1600b and want to know if this would be worth it. Thanks!

I can't compare to the terrapin x but compared to the old terrapin...the leupold is no there at all.

However..... I like it. It's a couple thousand dollars less expensive then a terrapin, I've been able to range into the 2000y off hand at a whim. It must have been within a yard because last I was out shooting that far, danger space as far as my solution goes was a yard or two if I remember right and I was able to
Get them in there.

Only things i don't like is the reticle isn't um thin enough for my liking, but that's just me, and you can always turn down the brightness settings, I don't like it was made in China, I don't trust those squinty eyed bastards, and that being said the warranty is only 2 years

dfanonymous, thanks for the feedback, that's good info. I have heard from others that the old terrapin was better than the new terrapin x in terms of maximum range. With what you saw vs the leupold and original terrapin makes sense. It sounds like the leupold is a strong performer none the less for slightly under $500. I appreciate the real world feedback like this, it's always the most helpful!

That's great to hear! What type of objects were you able to hit at 2K? Steel, trees, structures etc?
Yep along with bales, hill sides, deer. Hard to know if ur hitting deer or dirt though, but it gave me a reading
