Just got two older Vari-x IIIs back from Leupold whom I had install windage and elevation M1 turrets. The invoice has a section where they record the max adjustment in either direction. Apparently the 6.5 - 20 only has 32 up from center. They don't say what the 32 is exactly, but I'm guessing it's inches because the M1 turrets are graded in inches. Looking at my Infinity software, my 7RUM with 180gr Bergers zeroed at 100 yards has a bullet path -32" at 550 yards. Would it be correct to say that the max I could dial up and hold dead on would be 32 inches at 550 yards? My dad is telling me that I'm wrong because the "inch" elevation adjustment is only valid at 100 yards and that, for instance, at 1000 yards an "inch" adjustment moves the point of aim 10" inches because at that distance 1 moa is about 10". I think he's wrong because, regardless of the moa at a given distance, relative to 100 yards I'm still down 32" at 550 yards, and therefore I'd need to dial up 32" to compensate. Who's right?
