i worked up to the load you shoot 81gr h1000 180 ab its shooting 5/8 to3/4 groups at 100yrds i think i can close them up some once the barrel gets broke in only got 25 down it so far. my question is does 2860 fts sound right out of a 26in barrel. also in my 300 rum 95gr retumbo is getting me 3097 fts average with 200ab which seems about 100fts slower than what most others on here are getting with the same combo

Your speed is a tad low..Have you chrons'ed any other loads to see how the speed campares.... you're right at 3100 for the RUM...Accuracy is more importaant than speed IMHO..H-4831 is alxo a good powder for the 300 Win and might give more velocity in your gun if you feel that you need it... My barrel on my 300 Win is 3" longer than yours... I am getting 3073 FPS out of mine with the H-1000 load... I got 3150 FPS with H4831,but liked the lower ES wiht the H-1000.....Is your rifle a factory rig or a custom???

the wm is a ruger m77 action thats been trued with a hart #5 conture barrel mcmillion sporter stock thats piller bedded teflon coated olive drab the speeds not that importian as long as its accurate i was just thinking maybe i'm getting a little less speed because im so close to sea level compared to most of you guys out west . im going to post pics when i get a chance to go and get my camera out of the boat

I get 2980 out of a 24" barrel using 4350 with 180 ABs. I got up over 3000 but the groups opened up.
