Yes, this is what I remember also, but from where I can't remember - it has been too long ago. Starting with a 27" barrel and working down to 16", the average loss in velocity per inch, was approx. 25 fps plus/minus. This was true for several calibers.Historically, the anticipated difference in barrel lengths speed has been credited at 20-25 fps per inch. Now, don't ask me where that reference is. Just a recollection from 50+ yrs handloading?
I'd think that's kind of like testing powders though. From 27-21" maybe it was less than from 21-16". With most powders they are pretty stable between 45 and 75 degrees.
