It is almost Christmas !!!!!

Recently retired at the early age of 53. Decided to start spending some of my spare time practicing long range (Well at least for me ). I really enjoy mule deer and pronghorn hunting. My range only goes out to 600 yards but there is a 1000 yard one about an hour away from my house. My rifle is a few weeks away. It will be an H S Precision HTR-Precision Rifle in 6.5-284 Norma . Any one else expecting a new toy this Christmas. Purchased the scope (NF ATACR 5-25 F1) a couple of months ago.

You're in good shape, HS rifles are awesome and the NF ATACR is a great optic . Do you reload?

I have been reloading for about 20 years. I purchased an HS precision take down rifle in 2000 (270 WIN). I have been fortunate to have never missed a shot on any large game so far with that rifle. I only shoot at animals that are standing broadside.

First of all, welcome. Sounds as if you have a great Christmas present on the way. Also congratulations on the early retirement. I would think it will be nice to be retired at an age that you still feel good enough to to really get out and do things. Do you have any hunts or pack trips planned? Hello. I waited until I was 65 to retire? A little old. But if you are looking to get
some brass my 6.5 X 284 really likes HSM loaded with 142 Gr. SMK's.
They surprised me!

Thanks a lot. I retired 2 years early. I keep myself in pretty **** good shape. Normally we (law enforcement ) work until 55 but the job is getting insane. No definite hunts yet. I keep on getting preference points in Oregon, Utah, Wyoming and a state I plan on leaving soon. California.

Not for Christmas but I have APR building me a 300WM on their action with a carbon barrel and stock. Should be ready by the end of January.

Congrats on both items! I retired this years also, at 57, but 2 years past 55, which was the age of retirement when I was a kid.

My Xmas toy is an a-frame trailer by Rockwood. We don't need much and it'll do.
