is 26 inches to short for a long range 300wm?

the threaded barrels for savage i was looking at only come in 26 inches and i figured 28 would have been better?

I have a Remmy 700 in stainless in 300 WM and it has a factory 26 inch barrel and it does really good. I have shot it out to 1k and no problems. Shoots really good out that far and I would like to take it further. Jake

26 is fine to 1000 yds if you practice that far. 28 only gets you a few ft/sec and it's still practice. i shoot h-1000 and 200 AB in a heavy 26 in and it's accurate to 850 yds, that's where I practiced at. 550 yds to 850 was a real learning curve so 1000 will be more practice yet
