Info re: Carl Zeiss 6-24x72mm

Does anyone know how is the clarity, colour correctness, resolution, edge distortion and magnification is of t he military/police division, Hensholdt by Carl Zeiss 6-24x72mm -- Reticle is mounted in the 2nd focal plane…I just can't imagine a bell, lens, that big…I thought 56mm was huge this is "ginormus" (as my daughters would say)!

The 3-12x56mm has two models available one with a reticle in the 1st focal plane and the other, the FF version, with it in the 2nd focal plane…Why? What's the difference? Which is better and why?

Luckily, sport optics is located about an hour from my home. Chris Wisecarver is a great guy and lets us check out his inventory. I have looked through the victory and the hensoldt 72mms and they are fine. I may be a little biased since I bought one of the smaller 6x24x56 victorys and thing that the optics are the best I have ever seen.

Well I have ordered a Hensoldt 6-24x72. Almost had to sell my left n#$% to afford it.... When it arrives I will advise on how it compares to the rest of my scopes.

Well the brown truck delivered the scope today. I mounted it on a Remmy 700 with a varmint contour barrel. Using a EGW standard moa base, i used the badger 1" rings. Barely any clearance between the objective and barrel! I thought might have to get a cheek piece extension, but initial impression is that the factory stock should work out just fine. Thoughts on the optical quality is outstanding ( as it should be). I plan to get to the range next week to sight it in and will report back on how it does.

if the rectical is in the 2nd focal plan it doesn get bigger as you wind up the mag. where on a scope with retical in 1st focal plain it will

DM, Congratulations! How's the scope treating you?

So far its outstanding! Going to take it to the range again next week, then hog hunting in october and november. That will give me a idea of its performance in low light, which is the reason i purchased it.
