Hey All,
I ran across this image I took from the ranch we recently hunted in NW CO. The settlers named the feature Devil's Hole. It is in a huge bubble of the side of a much huger single slab of rock which protrudes from the hillside at about 8800ft elevation. Getting up the old, rickety ladders was not fun. Inscriptions from the late 1800s and early 1900s are found inside. The art and the old bullet holes tell me a tale of two cultures. Nathan Meeker, the government's indian intermediary, was found with 26 arrows in him, after they felt as though their hunting areas were being overrun. This entire area is very rich in cultural history and geology. cheers
