idaho unit 39 early season.

Got a friend that I am taking out who Lucked/pulled a tag for unit 39 early season rifle buck.
I am used to hunting this unit later in the season. Know unit fairly well.
Any help in general areas.

Sorry about the late reply, just saw the thread. Any luck so far in this heat? I don't have much help for you other that I spent several days in the Idaho City to Lowman area and found only a few does and fawns. Hope you find one for your friend, MT

Why, or what is the motivation for the early season? Seems meat preservation would much more challanging.

Would you ever apply for this hunt again? I was looking for a early hunt for my son. Usually we put in for unit 44 and even though we have drawn it a few times in 25 years the odds are bad..
