Well did anyone wait in the mess today? I was fortunate enough to be number 360 in line. Ended up waiting in the checkout area until a Tex Creek A popped up. Snagged it fast. Really wanted Diamond creek but this was a close second. Sooo all that being said, would anyone be willing to to point me in a starting point? I have almost a year to plan this so I'm gonna do everything I can ahead of time to plan this as well as possible! I'll take any advice….even if it's advice telling me there are way too many people and I should try another unit :). Thanks guys!

I did. That happened too with the DAV tags. I thought maybe it was in someone's cart about to sell out because I was later on the pool.

Which they did.

I went with Mcall B for elk and 19A for Mule deer. Goal was to get a zone that I could do both and a zone near my brother who lives in Boise. This is my first time hunting in Idaho so I'm just looking for the experience and adventure.

I was number 17,131. I decided to wait out, just to see what would happen. There were elk tags left in 6 areas when my number came up, but all in very rough terrain with 10-12% scoring odds, so I passed. Good luck to those who got good tags.

I got a Mccall B and a unit 23. Hopefully we can find some critters.

Hey I got Salmon b as well. Good luck an hope I DO NOT see you out there. At the bar afterwards would be great.
Same to you.

Off the top of my head, the smallest unit in that zone is 249 sq miles of land and almost 88% of that public. The only people that usually see me are the few real dedicated hunters passing through or the dudes that park right next to me and watch me pack the meat in the chest.

I tend to go where people don't, or more often aren't willing to go. Idaho is historically one of the easier hunts out of all the states I hunt to be honest.
