I acquired an high end double rifle. SXS 7x65R (Similar to a 280AI Remington) Was excited to shoot it at the range. Two handloads snuggled in and let fly from the front trigger. In the black at 100yds! I am not all that good a shooter....
Squeed the rear trigger, a muffled click. OOps. Hit the breakopen and the right ejected but the left barrel still had brand new round. No mark on the round. Cocked again and squeezed the rear/left. Nothing, again.
I looked at the auction ad and it said, "Mechanically perfect." I sent a message to RIA to ask. "We carefully inspected the firearm and it was mechically in perfect condition. However we do not have 'shootability.'" Ouch. I though I was SOL. I had paid the second highest price I ever paid for a firearm!
I started looking around for a great gunsmith. The screws on the lock-plate heads were floriate and a tiny slot for a screwdriver. I took the gun to a friend and he shook his head. Don't want to screw it up.
I got a call from RIA responding to my message. They agreed to have it fixed for me! A mailing label to send it to a gunsmith in Colorado. Have it fixed all on their expense! Another email was for me to also send 3 rounds along so the gunsmith could test shoot it to be properly working!
I think they don't do this for anybody, but I had paid a substantial price and they called me a VIP!
I LOVE Rock Island Auction!
