I jumped on the 22 Creedmoor bandwagon

I shot a 22-243 & 22-243AI for many years. In both configurations it was extremely accurate. I only used the rifle for longrange groundhogs but it sure was fun to shoot.

I simply ran 243 Lapua cases into a Redding FL die and I was ready to load. My smallest group with that rifle was shot at 600yds and came in at .625".

It appears that the 22 Creed would be very similar to the 22-243.

About 4 years ago I bought 600 pieces of Alpha SP 22 Creedmoor brass, Whidden dies and a reamer. A couple years before that I had gotten a Defiance Deviant Elite action off a prize table. Never used any of it.....until the day before yesterday. I got a 8 twist barrel blank from Ace Barrels to have a 26" finished length and chambered it up. Did a little load development yesterday with 75gr ELDM/StaBall 6.5 and to say I'm happy is an understatement. I will possibly have to continue to tweak my load a little because the pics below are shots 11, 12 and 13 thru this Ace Barrel.
I was VERY lucky with my starting load/OAL being so close to what seems to work. This rifle is only going to be used for Thermal hunting so I'll mount and zero my HALO-XRF today and be out looking for coyotes with it tonight.

PS I really don't wanna hear all the crap about a 3 shot group. ;-)

I use the 75 eldm with StaBall 6.5. 42.5g gets me 3400 out of a 22" barrel.

I fire-formed 200 pieces of brass and tweaked my load a little bit. I ended up with a muzzle velocity of 3520. I've already gotten 27 coyotes with it!! Before, with my 223AI my distance record was 408 yards. Since using the 22 Creedmoor I have gotten one at 450 and another at 522. I did miss one at 440 though. I have both long range kills on video but my HALO-XRF records with mp4 files and I cannot attach them in LRH posts. I have submitted a question about that to admins but to date have not gotten a reply.

522 Yards

450 Yards. Shot taken just before daylight.

Side note: On the one at 522 I could not tell where the entrance wound was and there was no exit wound.....cavity was mush!! On the 422 yard shot the coyote was quartered towards me and there was an "extreme" exit wound. I turned the dog over for the pic because basically the entire gut pile was outside. Overall, I am very happy with the 75gr ELDM's.

More like a 22-250AI but in a 30 degree shoulder than the 22-243 flavors. I have fire-formed 22CM brass in my 22-250AI chamber. The 243 and 22-243/AI's are a little longer with larger case capacity. Typically, the 22-243 and AI can gain a little more speed over the 22CM.

Below is the 243 vs 22-250AI vs 22-250.

I ran the 75gr A-Max (moly) bullet in the 22-243AI version at 3,670fps with RE22 at the time. Case life was very good.

I eventually set the barrel back and rechambered to 22-243 (plain) and was shooting an Berger 82gr LR bullet. The surprising this was that the barrel had a 1,000 rounds through it when I set it back by 2.5" (IIRC) and it shot just as accurately as it did when new.

You won't fall off the .22 Creed bandwagon, I have 17 different pop-guns in flavors of .22 from .22 short to .22 Creed including .220 Swift. The Swift has gone into retirement since I rigged up the 22 Creed.
Thinking about 22 GT next. My buddies say I'm 22 queer. I don't take offense, all are shooters.
My dad just got done building a 22 GT you won't be disappointed
