Has anyone opened up a Howa bolt from .308 to magnum face?

Has anyone opened up a Howa bolt from .308 to magnum face?

I'm sure others, who know a lot more than me will clarify, but due to the style/type of extractor Howa uses I don't believe you can open up the bolt face on a Howa, or any other bolt for that matter, that has that type/style extractor.

Obviously Remington's are very easy to open up the bolt face and replace the factory extractor with an aftermarket one and Savage has removable bolt heads but other than those two I'm not aware of any others you change.

There's some pretty knowledgeable folks on this forum so I'm sure someone will come along and give you a more definite answer.

Yes, but it presents the need for an unconventional approach. The extractor wouldn't be the 'big' problem.

Thanks for the info, I'm just scrapping the idea all together and going with a different action. That rifle is really shooting good so I don't want to mess with it.
