howa 1500?

does anyone offer replacement barrels for the howa 1500? got a 30-06 and want to get a little smaller caliber for mostly recoil reasons. what all can be done to this gun without a gunsmith? thanks

Reduced loads is about it uness you take it to a smith and then some guys might not want to work on it cause its metric threaded.

Their used to be a couple companies that offered reduced recoil ammo or if you reload you could role your own.

Try Tony at Crown Ridge. He sells a "Howage" barrel kinda like a Remage. With the right tools you could do the swap in your garage. I have purchased a Remage and A Savage barrel from him and been happy with both

Hornady makes a reduced recoil load for 30-06. I have used them in 7mm-08 And 243. Both were very accurate and deadly. I would try that first. My next steps would be to add weight to the rifle. I can give you ideas on that if you pm me. If none of that works, I would sell that rifle amd out the money toward a different one in a smaller cartridge.
