How to use a Digital Vernier Caliper

As part of my upgrade in reloading equipment, I purchased an iGaging ABSOLUTE ORIGIN 0-6" Digital Electronic Caliper.

I can never get a consistent reading in thou" and I put this down to my technique.
Is there a method I should use ? eg jam it up tight or use a soft touch ?

I could never get consistent readings off my digital calibers so I bought a dial caliper. Not only do I have confidence in its readings it makes me use my brain a little more so that feels good!

Semi-Fixed: Gave the scale a good wipe down and it reads 90% better. Thx for the replies.

Same pressure every time. Zero it by closing CLEAN jaws.. practice pressure needed to repeat zero...All precision tools must be kept clean
