I think it was a standard question at a dr's office a couple of administrations ago. I always skipped it

Hey, as a retired Army WO I use the military hospital that's close to home a lot.
This is another one the Doc's there always ask, "Do you feel safe at home"?
Me, "Sure, I have guns in the house". Only did it one time, because I got the strange look.

Nowadays, on-base clinics/hospitals are concerned about suicide, depression, and hurting themselves. Off base, they do not ask me such a thing; they only care about my insurance info.

My docs, all local guys, think guns are OK and enjoy shooting. Med intake forms here quit asking about guns years ago. I always state that I fear nuke war on the intake forms. One doc has a 300 yard range on his property.

I hunt with almost all my doctors, and if they don't hunt/shoot we paly poker, so they don't have to ask me as they have all been in my poker/gun/man house. My daughter is starting Med school, and man some that she looked at were SUPER liberal and the indoctrination was scarry.

That's a legit question for routine doctors visits.

I tell my kids to say "none of your business". Have had no issues. BUT most medical facilities have a no weapons sign.

In a normal world, you'd be able to have fun with the question like the OP stated.
