Heavy 22s

Yeah... I know. I'm running 79gr CEB DTACs in it right now and they shoot great. I'm just looking for maximum splat factor, which I don't forsee happening with a monometal bullet. Velocity kills, no doubt, but expansion is where it's at for varmints.

No problems at 3250 with 7.7 twist 5R barrel (McGowen).

Give me some info on the 79gr CEB DTAC. I gotta feeling it is a hollow point match type bullet - not the greatest for expansion on tiny targets or some bigger.

Call Steve/Brian he'll tell you which ones open the fastest. If they don't make it in that model they'll custom design it for you.

Number stuff on .224 79 DTAC:

Should be good for shooting deers. Probably intended for lower velocities than .22 CM. I plugged in 3,150 fps.

Should concerns arise about bullet failure with 75 H ELDM's, the 88 grain H ELDM would be another consideration with a 7 twist. Stabilization more than adequate & plastic tippy thing & thin jacket for expansion.

The Hornady 4DOF calculator will indicate bullet performance for the 75 & 88 grain ELDM bullets.

Great info, I just received my 22 Creed and I loaded my first 50 rounds using ELDM 88, using H 4831sc at 38.5grs. 2809 fps. 1/7 twist. 20" Barrel.
Time to start tinkering.

Without listing the barrel length the speed means near nothing. I'm pushing an 80.5 at 3200@20" barrel with H4350 but still need to get some more rounds on it so the speed will settle down.

OP - 75amax is where I'd start.

I've shot plenty of prairie dogs with 88 gr ELDMs out of my 22-250 AI. Makes a mess of them. Current load with RL-23 and a 22" barrel is right at 3150 FPS.

A 77 gr TMK works really well also when looking for "splat factor". 77 gr TMKs are hard to find now, but Creedmoor Sports sells projectiles as "American Bullet Company". They list a .224 77 gr tipped match bullet from a "major bullet manufacturer" (I'm pretty positive it's Sierra). They have the same green tips and BC as the TMK.
