Headspacing a takeoff barrel in 7mm-08 Ackley?

I picked up a previously chambered and threaded barrel for a Remington 700 in 7mm-08 Ackley. Could a 7mm-08 go gauge be used for headspacing since the Ackley cartridges are supposed to be headspaced for a slight crush fit on the shoulder of the standard casing? I don't think my local gunsmith has a reamer or heaspace gauges for the ackley but he does for the standard round. I realize that it may or may not be possible to install the barrel without use of a chamber reamer but I'd prefer to have it done locally if I can to avoid the extra shipping expense.

No.

You'd be better off to rent/buy the proper gauges, or at least use properly sized brass.
