I am looking to buy a handgun scope for my CVA Scout V2 pistol in 300 blackout. Will be using gun for coyotes and maybe deer in Arizona. I would like a variable power. Something in the $200- $300 price range. Any thoughts on what would be a good scope in that price range? Thank you Brad.

Take a look on the forum here a little further down on the list for Speciality Handguns. You may find what you're looking for there.

Also, look over on the Specialty Pistol Forums. These guys are very knowledgeable in the field.

I just finished my special pistol and put a Nightforce SHV on it.

The choices for handgun scopes are dismal. Nikon used to make a good variable power scope for a decent price but they no longer do. The lower end prices will only allow a fixed power. Leupold and Burris are the two I use now.

What ranges are you planning to shoot ? If shooting subsonic heavies I like FFP so I can hold in the reticle because they drop so fast. As stated the choices aren't that great.

Probably out to 200 yards. And I will be loading the super sonic , probably the barns Tac-TX in either 110 gr. or 120 gr. I not really sure the effective range of this handgun on coyote size game. Maybe someone would now better about that!

The blackout is a strange round that is kind of round...OK at some things but not great at them. I found bullet selection to be the key to performance and using top end bullets that will perform at the lower speeds you will get from a pistol will be your best chance. Call and they can suggest something for you.
