I just acquired some more H4831sc for use in another rifle/caliber, but wonder how it would perform in my 6.5CM-chambered rifles. I typically see 6.5CM discussions involving H4350 and the various Reloder powders, not so much with H4831sc. Is it too slow for the cartridge in general? I primarily use 143ELDx bullets in Hornady LR brass, but also have some Lapua SR brass as well. H4350 has been a proven performer so far, if a little lackluster in the velocity department. I know that RL26 is supposed to be magic in compressed loads, but can't find any and generally avoid compressed loads if possible, anyway.

It's just too slow. Can't get enough in that case. N555 or reloder 15.5 are made just for the cm. If it can be found. I could never get 4831 to work for me.

I suspected that might be the case, since I see so little mention of it. Figured it might be useful for the heavier 147-156gr projectiles. I guess the double-base Reloder powders offer more usable energy in the smaller cartridge.

It's listed for the 143 ELD-X by Hodgdon, start 39.4gn 2414fps, max 46.3Cgn, 2735.

Superperformance is much easier to find (Powder Valley had it today after all the better stuff was gone), and that gets better velocity. It's been easy to get, so I've been using it in 6.5CM and 30-06 to save other powders.

First our calibers are:
6mm BR mainly with Berger 105 Hybrids (have 109Bergers,, 110 SMK and lighter bullets <100gr)

.260rem with 142 SMK, but believe it or not 123 SMK, 130 STMK, 142 SMK all have the same POI 100yds in the rifle we built. Great for the range, only have to change bullet weight in the Kestrel. (also have Berger Hybrids140-didn't try them yet) The SGK140s shoot inside the 1/4" group as well. This is with H4350

I had a chance to get RL26 and passed today. Didn't know if it would work well in a .260Rem or 6.5X284. I have plenty of H4381sc, H4350, H100V, stabal6.5

Then Varget, H4895, and CFE223 for the 6mmBR, 223, & 204.
What is RL26 good for? I primarily use Hodgon powders because I had the powders available forever. (Getting thin now).
Thanks for any information and ideas.

4350 or my go to but. win 760 is no slouch

H4831 has proven, for a lot of people, to work extremely well (very accurate) in the 6.5. See "The secret Carolina load" on Accurate Shooter.com. It will not give the higher velocities of some other powders.
But a lot of guys want to use what they have and are more interested in accuracy.
YMMV

4831sc is very accurate with 147 eldm just a tad slower...easy on brass too...for me personally reloader 16 is cream of the crop for the 6.5 cm

RL26 works well in 6.5 cm and 6.5x284, I find h4831sc is a lot more accurate just not as fast in the Norma.

h4831sc just doesn't do the job in the creed for me. Don't be shy of RL26 in the creed. Compressed loads are very accurate most of the time. I shoot a compressed load of RL26 and it shoots one hole at 100, at 2950 FPS in my creed.
