Guess the weight of my new rifle build!

I've long been working on my idea of a great hunting rifle, and finally have all of the parts and barreled action complete; though, I have not picked up the barreled action, yet. The wait trying to get to the FFL is killing me.

Anybody want to guess at the weight?
Components:
-NOS McMillan KS stock
-Timney trigger
-GreTan fireing pin assembly
-22" K&P featherweight contour chambered in 7mm-08AI
-Remington bdl bottom metal/trigger guard (aluminum I think)
- Remington Model 7 action that has been worked on a little bit but not with skelotonized bolt handle etc

I hope to find out on Monday. And I hope I don't get tempted to order a Manners UltraClassic to drop half a pound!

Based on the K&P contour chart, that barrel is only 2 pounds. If that is accurate, your finished rifle should be less than 6 pounds.

BTW - I have a KS stock that is 4 months into a 5-6 month wait for a KS contour barrel from Benchmark. The stock weighs 27.5 oz. So, if you went with something like a Manners Ultra Classic, you are correct thinking you would shed another half pound or so. I am a lefty, so that particular option is not available to me.

What is your target weight (ready to hunt)? I'm going the lighter weight build as well. I completely understand the frustration with wait times on getting everything in the GS's hands. The only good news is it gives you time time to secure reloading components ahead of the build. The choice of glass also becomes an area that can have an effect on the ready to hunt weight. Compromise is constantly in play. Enjoy the process. It sounds like you will have a fine hunting rifle in the end.

Bare rifle 5.9-6.1 pounds
This is the range that my hopeful estimate falls within

This KS is 27oz on the nose, but is such a comfortable stock. It does have a thick Limbsaver pad.

I want the rifle itself to be sub 6, and ready to hunt to be in the 7.5 range. Not quite decided on Optic. Scope will be mounted in NF ultralight rings on a Talley pucatinny rail; those items add 4iz

I agree with you about it being a comfortable stock. I have never handled another stock that felt better in my hand while carrying it. I have a KS stock on a 300 RUM and the second one is going to be on a 280 AI.

Your stock is a couple of ounces lighter than I was figuring on so with that and being a model 7 you might come in around 5.75 or so.

Ditto. I really don't see how it might be made better for a light and handy rifle. I was surprised when I weighed it, I did think they were closer to 20oz.

I like your optimism!
Going the wrong way, friend!
15.99 lbs…Idaho legal

@milo-2
I have a 27" 7mmWSM in a Manners T4 that is only a few pounds short. It is a nice big brother to this one.

My original thought was to be close to 5. And while obtainable, it got much more expensive for those last ounces
