Got scope and bases!!!

I got my scope, rings and bases today.
OIR 1913 pictinny base, Baer custom steel rings and a NF 8-32x56.

Only problem is that the screws I got thiw the base don't fit!

The other problem is that I don't have a lapping bar, how important is lapping? Am I likely to damage the tube or viod the warranty if I don't lap?

It looks like I won't get to shoot the rifle this week, I have to go away for business tomorrow night leaving me with the rest of today to find the screws here in the 3rd world...

With the bottom halves of the rings mounted on the base, with the base mounted on the rifle, the scope should slide in the pair of ring halves as easily as when only one ring lower half is on the base. If this does not happen then lapping is needed and it is very important.
