Sounds exciting right. The only problem is I'm the prey in this dangerous game. I drew another tag right on the border of Mexico. Been down this road many times before. These tags are the only tags I can draw consistently anymore. The hunting is good if you can avoid the massive war going on around you. I'm excited but as always a little nervous too!

At least there well armed thanks to current admin. Wait, Homeland Sec says, the Border is safest and securest it's ever been. Your not implying she's full of crap are you? They never lie  Good luck with that and better watch your six.

I used to hunt the Santa Rita's every year for the little whitetails, great hunting , but, your right, be careful!

Its not a massive war as you described it but you do have to be careful. Are you hunting around Douglas, Sierra Vista or Nogales? Its more dangerous on the Mexican side for sure (closer to a war). I just wouldn't camp out there at night time. I would stay in a hotel and then move out from there. Your most dangerous time is going to be night time because that is when the guys that will harm you are actively moving. In the day time you should be looking all over anyway since you are hunting.

I've both seen and heard gun battles between border patrol and uda's. Black hawk helicopters, snipers, automatic gun fire, etc. Happens all the time yet main stream media doesn't talk about it. A few years back they shut down the entire buenos aires wilderness in AZ which is a huge chunk of real estate. They were flying C-130
Gunships over the area firing down into the desert with every pass while automatic gunfire was being returned from the desert floor. They hauled them out of there by the busloads.
In my opinion that's a war. I don't want to turn this into a political debate just sharing my experiences. I am planning on backpacking in on this hunt because it is the only practical way to hunt it. The last deer I killed in there I hiked 9 miles the day I killed my buck and another 7 miles the next day to recover him. Adding an hour a day of driving to and from a hotel room is just not practical. I will also most likely be solo on this hunt. Like I said it's a dangerous game. I really love hunting!!!

I noticed there was a lot of left over tags for those units you should just put in for the units you would rather hunt and if you dont draw get a left over.

Going to try and get a left over tag in 30A for muley, not sure how bad it is over there, will bring my dog for night time security, he has better ears than me! You gona be close to 30A?

Never said it wasnt dangerous. This world is dangerous.

Shortpants..I hope you have a great time on your hunt and get a huge buck. This is your thread and you can say what you want in it.

Thanks for the well wishes and also the advice. It would indeed be much safer to stay in a hotel but just not worth it. I don't doubt your knowlege on the subject and I hope I didn't come off as so. I have also never been in an actual war so perhaps I was out of line suggesting that I know what that's like. I do not and have nothing but respect for those who protect my rights to enjoy hunting the border of our nation. I've seen enough that I will never take my family down there and feel I should not take the chance either but like I said, I really love hunting!

Be Safe,
Jason

It's been several years since I was in 30A so I'm no expert. They do have issues over there like anywhere on the border but I don't know to what extent. I will be in 36C so not anywhere close to 30A. Best of luck to you and be safe!!!
