I have traded for a Knight muzzleloader with a solid, carbon/fibre stock finish. I had started to research this form of firearm before and know about large rifle priming and these new Hornady bore rider bullets and plan on using the standard style of powder, which I intend to use. I know nothing else about this form of shooting, but have written since '86 about shooting precisely at long range with a high power centerfire rifle.
How do you go about bedding this type of rifle where the action and the barrel appear to be made of the same piece of steel? Where is the recoil lug? The stock appears to be very stiff and stable, but with the ramrod underneath the barrel, what's the best way to glass bed these stocks for the very best accuracy?
I have a range to 800 and will be testing the various bullets given me, as to accuracy potential. I assume a 2x7 scope would be good for this weapon and its ballistics, which I will use for testing and also its first hunt in northern Missouri after Christmas.
Here in New Mexico I will be restricted to iron sights. Any suggestions for a sight that will help me find accuracy at longer distances than the usual?
Thanks in advance,
WW
