I’ll start off by saying I’ve never really had a problem with savage, they just weren’t my cup of tea. I’ve heard great stories of how they shoot but I have the stigmatism of what they were when I was growing up in my head. Well this week I won a savage axis 2 hardwood in 243 from a raffle. I tried getting store credit and tried trading it somewhere else but no one would bite. So I decided to take it home and shoot it anyway. With junk 180gr federal Ammo I had on the shelf from a previous rifle I started to sight it in. With no barrel brake in and honestly not really giving it the chance to cool off this little rifle will darn near throw groups to cover with a dime at 100! Well I hate to admit it but this rifle has bumped my 22-250 Bergara out of the passenger seat as my truck coyote rifle. Sorry for the long winded story I just never would have imagined a cheap free rifle would shoot so dang well with cruddy Ammo and not given much of a chance.
