As above, would you?
There's some going cheap at a local fun shop, mainly because they're just not known in Australia.

I heard great things about them early on and then once they were sold off reviews went downhill. As I understand they're now out of business which sets off alarm bells but thought it was worth considering.

Don't hold back one way or another, gloves off what does everyone think?

Would be in 308 or 30-06

Cheers

You're in Australia, you say cheap, I would jump on a .308 win. I know guys with great results in that cartridge. Melvin is still going strong, rifles are still serviceable (don't know import/export laws), but still a nice rifle

Cheaper is a relative term I guess, it's on sale for $2000. Shipping to and from US for tune ups would probably not be worth the cost if it came to that. Australia is a the land of great rip offs wherever it can!

Depends what you want rifle for as I had 2 of them for sheep rifles both had to go back very poor rifles , one needed a new barrel the other was bolt issues plus the fit and finish were brutal for the price I paid !! OH accuracy LMAO a 2 inch group is the best I could do your better off with an old army 303 IMHO. I now have another Kimber Montana with a few extra tweaks that shoots awesome.

I guess your posting about Forbes rifle and not NULA that Mel still owns. If you read article about it I'd pass on one.

That's the sort of thing I've been hearing about since Forbes got out of the business. I don't think I'll bother taking the chance.

My brother played kimber roulette and came off second best which put a bad taste in my mouth so I'd never buy one personally.

I know NULA but their cheapest rifle starts at $5k AUD and that's way out of my range.

Out of interest here's the prices of some common guns in Aus.

TC bonecollector 50 cal muzzleloader $650US $1300AUD I ordered one from the states and the price literally doubled.

TIKKA T3 BLUED SYNTHETIC $1200
Sako A7 $1600
SAKO FINNLIGHT $2900
BROWNING A BOLT $850
Remington mountain rifle $2000
Savage weather warrior $1600
Christensen arms carbon classic $4500
Winchester extreme weather $2000
Kimber ascent $3700
Kimber Montana $2500

Nothing here is cheap unfortunately

For the dollar amounts listed for rifles, I would buy the tikka 1st choice and the a bolt second choice. I know there are quality tikka upgrades being manufactured in Australia
