For sale: Bell and Carlson Remington 700 ADL short-action "Light Varmint" stock in black with red spiderweb (mfg number 2949-42). This stock was originally going to be completely worked over and then bedded, but I have decided to go in a different direction with this rifle/stock.
Remington 700 ADL short action
Light Varmint style stock
Same stock that was used on the Rem 700 LV SF rifle
Semi-beavertail forearm
Designed as a drop in fit for magnum contour barrels
Modified Lug block and Pillar (NOT full length bedding block)
Pachmayr Decelerator recoil pad
13.5" LOP
Approx. weight - 27 oz.
Asking $190 shipped to your door (for lower contiguous 48-states). Market price is $250 plus shipping/tax.
Ok, here is the description of the condition that I have it modified to (stock can be used as is perfectly fine, or preferably bedded for maximum accuracy):

Ok, here is the description of the condition that I have it modified to (stock can be used as is perfectly fine, or preferably bedded for maximum accuracy):
- The barrel channel was originally a "magnum contour" with pressure pads at the end. The barrel channel has been opened up more for a larger contour barrel (or for complete free-float with better cooling for sporter/magnum contour barrels). Barrel pressure pads have also been removed.
- The metal grommet/bushing for the front action screw was loose on receipt from Bell & Carlson, so I did epoxy it in place.
- I drilled out a hole in the center part, between the trigger housing and blind magazine, and filled/reinforced it with MarineTex, because the stock originally had some lateral flex there when you tightened the action screws to 35 in/lbs.
- I broke (rounded/beveled/removed) most of the sharp cut edges on the inside of the stock action in-letting, prior to bedding (I never got around to actually bedding it, and I am going in a different direction now.
- Minimal dings/safe wear, as I received this last August.
