I'm wanting to flute a #3 Bartlein in 6.5 and wanted to know if it's doable or a bad idea. I'm doing it 100% on looks.

Yup. Call up Kampfeld Custom or Twisted Barrel.
I have a 3b that's fluted in 22-250AI. It does 1 inch at 300 yards.
If it is Stainless Steel, I think it is a bad idea. If it is Chromoly, I think flutes about .050" deep would be ok.
I have a fluted #3 6.5mm benchmark. It's been great for me.

Why what?
Because SS isn't as strong as Chromoly. Fluting a barrel that diameter will put the root diameter below what some smart people think is a safe diameter.

In some cases when you flute a barrel after it's been stress relieved it can have/cause pressure fields
My gunsmith advises against doing it, I know lots of them are done that way and without issue.
You take your chances is all.

Learn from my mistake. I had my Bartlien #3 spiral fluted earlier this year. 28 Nolser , easy half moa gun before I had it done. Wasn't even close to that after it was done. Shot so bad, I would center punch 1 inch bullseye at 200, then very next shot would miss the 2 foot x 3 foot paper the bullseye was on. Did that with 180 eldm and 195 bergers. I now have a spiral fluted tomato stake.
