This past Saturday, I finally got to check the box after two seasons and took a nice whitetail doe with my Smith and Wesson M&P9 using the 90gr Raptor bullet loaded in Cutting Edge Bullets defensive ammo. I ranged her at 60, watching intently constantly ranging waiting for 40 yards to come up. Well she hit 40 and continued in I stopped her at 20 and took the shot. It looked good, she hunched up and took off running out of sight behind the bushes. I was initially discouraged by no blood but I had the direction she ran and after a quick body search I recovered her under 50 yards. Let’s talk about the bullet now, the bullet tore through the shoulder and quickly opened up, by time it made it to the ribs it had sperated the blade from the base. I found one petal rather shallow but the 3 others and the base made it through the rib cage and into the vitals. I found 2 of the other blades in the heart and a additional hole where the base went on through it. I did not find the base but there was no sign of it making it to the off side rib cage. All was dumped into the vitals. Great performance characteristics for a defensive ammo definitely helps the 9mm punch above it’s weight just maybe not most optimal for hunting since no exit was produced. It a cool experience overall!
