First field outing with my new-ish rifle. It's a DPMS LR-308L with a Zeiss Conquest 4.5 - 14X with the RapidZ 800 reticle. This little buck was trailing a bunch of does and appeared to be wounded. My buddy ranged him at 576 yards. I got prone and held the wrong reticle wire on the first shot. It did not scare off the deer. I corrected on my second shot and was able to see the deer collapse through the scope. He stood back up and I hit him a second time and that was enough. I was shooting 168gr AMax bullets over RL-15 at about 2650 fps.
