couple years ago I put together 2 AR type rifles with IMO top notch components. The first one is a 6.5 creed . 22" Krieger SS 1-8" barrel on a aero precision upper/lower. Jp silent spring, jp high pressure bcg, giselle ae 2.5 # trigger, adj gas block topped with a Leopold 8.5x25 LR scope.
Upon completing the build. i realized how stinking heavy it was.
This led to much lighter 2nd build.
22" 6creed proof carbon fiber barrel 1-8" twist on another AP receiver set. Luth stock Seven titanium bolt carrier with jp high pressure bolt Giselle service rifle match trigger topped with vortex pst viper ffp 5-25 scope.
The 6.5 I have sighted in using hornady 140 gr eld-m....impressed1" 5shots @100 yards.
the 6 creed is on paper but thats it. Neither have much load development as of yet.
I have some h4350 cci450 primers and peterson brass. bullets so far are hornady 140gr eld-m 143gr eld-x and 107 smk for the 6 creed.
also have various nosler ballistic tips for the 6mm.
Is it unrealistic to expect moa to 1/2 mile with both rifles? I'd like to find some hodgdon superperformance powder to try on both rifles.
I'm asking for ideas on other bullet selections. Eventually I'd like to end up with a varmint round and deer round for both rifles.
The 6mm is quite noticeably lighter and will be the one I carry most on yote hunts. I'm an avid reloader and any tips on bullet/powder combos would be great. I used to frequent LRhunting but raising a family proved to taking me away from some of my hobbies. Now empty nester with the mrs. I have much more free time and looking forward to more shooting huntim and reloading
