Firing Pin and Primer size

Gents.
Please forgive me if this is a silly question.
Is the firing pin fitted to a rifle chambered for a cartridge using a small rifle primer different to the firing pin fitted to one intended for a large primer?
Are their diameters the same?
For instance could a 308 Remmie action be re-barrelled in 6.5x47 Lapua?

In terms of Rem 700 for example, I beleive the only difference is Long Action vs Short Action and it is only relevant in terms of length rather than diameter.

Hence, conversions from 308 Win to 6.5x47 Lapua are common.
