March has a 3-24X42 at 21 ounces for $2,180. I realize it's a lot more zoom (8X) then you wanted (5X).
They also have a 1-8X24 at 18 ounces for $2,280.

beat me to it, I was going to recommend the March as well. Have one living on my light 300wm and it is a fantastic hunting scope.

They track very well. I've been using a March-X 5-50X56 for the last 6 years in F-TR competition and after 100+ competitions, 20,000 rounds and travel all over the continent, it's still tracking dead on.
If you want to order one, I suggest calling EuroOptics. The March scopes are handmade in Japan; this is not mass production, so you may have to wait for yours, but you should be able to order the exact one you want.
I will also point out that they have them with a 52mm objective also, but these are pricier and heavier, as you would expect. You wanted a 40 or 42mm objective and that's what I talked about above.
