Federal 215 vs cci 250

has anybody messed with these two primers and seen which one performed better in es and accuracy thanks everybody

Both work great for me, sometimes one will be better than the other in different cartridges for reasons I can't explain. I always try both when starting fresh with a magnum.

I have used both, but CCI 250 seemed to work better for me, your results may very. I am only at 440' above sea level, so higher elevations may perform different.

I reload using both. The 215's seem to be one grain equivalent hotter using Retumbo than the 250's.

I test with all brands available. There is always a clear winner….however, in an off the shelf hunting rifle that is not tuned, it may make little to no difference, trying doesn't hurt though.

Me too! I am at 3.3K' but hunt from 5K-7.5K'.

I have tried both and my 338 Lapua and both were very accurate not much difference there but I did get about 30 more feet per second with the federal primer In the same load

I use both probably 70% of time I use CCI 250's. I find them a bit harder than the Federal and do not flatten as quickly. I believe a better pressure indicator. Just my opinion.

One thing I've noticed with federal primers is that they seem to fit in the primer pockets a little tighter.

When I had my .338LM, I prefered Fed215M's, but I never had a problem CCI250's though.

RCBS has the cci, large and small rifle primer/die combo.

For three decades I used nothing but 215's in anything that burned more than 80 grains of powder. I was recently fighting ES issues in my 338 Lapua improved- and on a recommendation from a world record bench-rest shooter tried some 210's. My ES went from 30-ish FPS to low single digits. I also tried rem 9.5's and 250's, but the 210's were the best.

The only caveat is whether I will have ignition issues relying on the 210's to ignite 98 grains of H1000 when the temps are in the 20's, I doubt I will, but don't know for sure.
