Favorite do-all rifle

I take your point about the 30/06 for NA, though I would suggest the recoil of the 338 Win Mag and 375 aren't too dissimilar. https://chuckhawks.com/recoil_table.htm States 35.2 ft lbs vs 37.3 ft lbs and an identical recoil velocity of 16.3 comparing 225 gr with 300 gr.

My wife had zero issues with the recoil of my old Model 70 in .375 H&H…..which is far too heavy for her to comfortably carry when hunting. She much prefers her Model 70 .338 WM …. 8 lbs. 15 oz. "all up"!

She absolutely refuses to try my 9 + lb. 375 AI…..probably a smart move on her part! memtb

For me, it's my current rifle, which is a Browning Hells Canyon LR in 7mm RM.

That said, my favorite rifle of all time was a Ruger M77 MKII in .270. A true tack driver that I was bummed I got rid of.
I'm willing to wager with confidence that the majority of members have "that one" rifle that we regret getting rid of for one reason or the other. Welcome to the forum from the "free state" of Florida!

From America's smallest big game to Africa's "Big Five" (where legal) it's fully capable! Photos @ 11:00 😂

Win. Model 70 "push feed", 24" Douglas SS Premium with iron sights & Leupold CDS 3.5-10, McMillan stock with Pachmyar Decellerator……chambered in .375AI. "Fighting Weight" shown! memtb

I'm partial to the Win. push-feeds, too. My go to is a featherweight '06. looks a lot like yours.

Had a stainless Mark II in 7 Mag I got rid of recently. Haven't slept well since. With 160-grain partitions and RE-25 it was accurate beyond all reason.

I can vouch for the M77 MkIIs. I have one in .243, the stainless with the 'boat paddle' synthetic stock I bought in the late 80s... I think it's first year of production... to replace a beautiful M77 UL tang safety model in .243 that was a 1.5 MOA rifle at best. It shoots any 70 grains and up factory load around 3/4" or better at 100 yards.

Really makes you wonder why we do it. My M77 MKII sale was partially due to a wife, now ex-wife.

And, that was that...;)

I have a faux ti shorty in 7 rum, it's not setup for anything special. Honestly a pretty vanilla looking rifle, but it's the most horsepower you can stuff in an ultralight rifle before the recoil starts to effect most folks. Because it's light and compact relative lazer, it gets carried everywhere. Funny part is, the last three animals it whacked were guys borrowing it.

Probably gonna dupe it in something a little more mild, maybe a 7saum or 300 wsm just to make a little more mild light weight rifle.

I had to think about this one for quite some time before posting. After careful consideration, it's my Snowy Mountain Rifles built 6.5 Creedmoor. Between all of the fun banging steel, and harvesting a few different kinds of critters, I think if I only had one, I would pick this one. A little on the heavier side for a big mountain rifle, and a little small for a lot of the bigger game, but I love it down to it's core, and I would happily take it anywhere.
