Any of our southern group headed west this year to chase elk?

Heading to Chama one week from tomorrow (Oct 16). Year #32, only 2 years tag soup. Can't wait !! This Ida recovery has me ready to get out of town for a while, and I can't think of any place I'd rather be than in the Rockies chasing Bulls.

I used to archery hunt near montrose. Going for a 3rd season rifle hunt this year just across the line into Colorado from Chama.
I'm in MS. I assume you're in LA?

I have not been able to draw in two years now, but I been to the Gila in the south central part of the state and Mt Taylor west central for 30 years. Hunted one year near Raton for a late season cow hunt up near Ted Turner place, giant bulls in that area.

Yes, Louisiana- New Orleans West (River Parishes relocated from NO after Katrina). You hunting Private Ranch or Public ?? I'm guessing you will be around Chromo or North from Chama near the Del Oso Pardo?

Good luck on your hunt, post some photo's of your trip. I had a buddy over in Greenville and we would chase greenheads the last week of the season there.
