My boys have CZ 527s in 22 Hornet and 17 Hornet. We want to buy stocks to put on them so they can hunt(limited use) and not mess up the factory stocks at all. Hopefully 50 years from now they will still be pristine condition still.

So my question is has anyone used a Boyd's on CZ 527? Did they fit pretty good/require much hand inletting?

Thanks ahead of time.

I have used a great many Boyd's stocks on a great many different brands of rifles. I do not recall putting one on a CZ 527 but have put them on a CZ 550 and 600.

In all the ones I installed over the years, a few required very minor fitting, most fit just fine right out of the box. All were Devcon bedded to the rifle but I do this with all makes of stocks. They are a great stock for very reasonable prices, though if you now get carried away with all the selectable options, they can get pretty pricey. They were much simpler back in the day and thus much cheaper. I like that the laminate stocks a very tough, stable and come in some truly striking color combinations.

You can still order the very basic inletted and finished stock for very little money.

I have one on a Savage rimfire, it dropped right in with no problems. I also had one on a 10/22 and really liked it in every way.
Thanks for the info. This is basically what I was wanting to know.
I have bedded a few rifles myself. I have opened up the barrel channel on a few rifles. So minor inletting I should be able to handle.
I imagine we are going to pay a little extra. One son wants blue on his, and the other one wants green on his. Of course there is a color upcharge on the cheaper stocks. ;)

That is a beauty! Does the FB stand for fireball?

Hey, I've bought a couple Boyd's stocks. One for a Rem 700 which I set up for my daughter. There was a small amount of fitting, nothing hard. But I cut the stock shorter and put a different recoil pad on it. Also thinned the whole stock down. The other was the AT1 stock for a Howa 1500, again very minor fitting.
Take Care

I have 3 Boyd's stocks. A thumbhole on my TC Encore,1 on a Remington 541 T and 1 on a 10-22 . Only 1 required any work, but in their defense I had installed an aftermarket trigger. The stock still fit, but contacted the trigger and I thought that might affect accuracy.

Yes, it does. It is a factory Rem 700 Varmint weight barrel in LH 17 Fireball. You can actually see that on the bottom picture where the chambering is stamped on the barrel. Great shooting rifle. Killed a ton of gophers and yoyes with that gun.

I've used a couple on Ruger M77's and couple on TC Encore's/contenders. Great stocks once bedded.
I really wish they would start doing a Medium Rem 700
