This is a DWM 1908 Brazilian Mauser action that was offered by, I believe, Century Arms, back in the 1990s, and offered as the basis for an inexpensive rifle. The purchasing customer brought the rifle to us in the mid-1990s to have it assembled into a barreled action. We ordered a Douglas barrel (the basic barrel, not the most expensive Douglas), then had the barrel turned and trimmed to 24", fitted to the action, and chambered for .308 Winchester (as per my recollection), and matte blued the receiver as per the customer's request. The customer failed to pay for the work and agreed to abandon the action and barrel to us as compensation for the work. This barreled action languished in the back of our gunsmithing shop and was never sold to recover our costs.
Here I am three decades later, with this barreled action I have no use for. The action has light pitting at the stock line at a few places on the action and on the floor plate. The barrel is in the white and I think it's chrome moly (a magnet sticks to it). I've checked the action with dummy cartridges and live rounds (very carefully, with the safety on), and it feeds and extracts .308 ammo from the magazine, and .308 ammo and dummy cartridges fit into the chamber fully (seat up to the shoulder). The muzzle accepts a .308 bullet up to a point on the ogive that is identical to how the same bullet fits in the muzzle of my .308 rifles. I believe it is chambered in .308 but verify this with a gunsmith!
I'm selling this rifle as a parts/project rifle, for someone who is either a gunsmith or who will work with a gunsmith to finish it (or strip it for parts). To duplicate this you're looking at $200 for a complete 1908 action plus over $100 for the blank plus over $100 to profile, fit, and chamber the barrel. I'll sell the whole thing for $200 including shipping to your FFL (shipping will cost me around $50). I will never get back what we put into this, but that's okay... spilled milk/sunk costs. Sarco has just the action, with the original finish (worn and scratched) for $195 plus shipping. If you're looking for a 1908 Mauser this is a really good deal.
