I just got my first boxes of the 212gr ELD-X for my 300winmag. I was going to start load testing with 7828ssc which has been my go to powder for this rifle. But am I being to closed minded by not trying something else? Should I be thinking about trying some of the RL22 or 23 powders or maybe some H1000? I see alot of people like the H1000. What have others been been using? Thanks for the help.

Yep, definitely try H1000 and RL /22/23. In addition, RL-17 and H4350.

Cheers!

Thanks FEENIX. I was at Cabela's and they didn't have any of the RL22/23 powders so I picked up a pound of H1000. I'll load that and 7828ssc and see how they compare.

H-1000 would be where I'd start. IMR 7977 seems like it would also be a great choice for 300 win mag and the 212 ELDX.

I like 7828ssc as my go to powder in my various 300 mags. I would get another 25-50 fps out of RL22, but not the accuracy. Check out RL26 and Norma MRP.

Thanks for the suggestions everyone. I was able to get out and do a ladder test with the H1000 . I found that at 75.7, 76.0 and 76.3grs of powder looked like the sweet spot. The 3 shots were in a 1" group at 200 yards. My muzzle velocity was between 2854fps and 2875fps. Now I will load up five of each charge weight and try to get out today and see which ones give me the best results. Oh and none of the cases showed signs of excessive pressure which I was worried about with how full the cases fill with H1000.

300, H1000 and IMR Enduron 7977 have the same burn rate. If H1000 is hard to find the 7977 is a temp insensitive substitute. Good luck
