My prefit did not index so the stamp was showing perfectly like a custom chambered, stamped barrel would. Not a big deal here.
Excellent! As most of us expected, it was not the action. I am surprised about the C6 excuse, though. I know many that are pleased with the barrel but unaware of chambering pre-fits. I worked very closely with Gene when I placed my order; he was accommodating. They offered to chamber it if I sent my reamer, but I opted for my GS to build it.My action was within .001 of a brand new one, fresh from the mail truck.
The barrel tenon was .010 too long. Gunsmith said it appears they did not allow for any clearance when the length was set.
I am waiting to see if Carbon Six calls me back and accepts that this is their error, or if they still demand I send them all of my parts so they can tell me again that Defiance has a problem.
Lesson here: Don't buy a product and accept warranty terms from a company if you (or I) aren't actually in agreement with them.

I have no clue how many prefits they have done. Only Defiance prefits are relative here. So consider the number of Defiance prefits they have done vs the number of Defiance actions that have been assembled then tell me how many others (Defiance actions) you have heard of that were out of spec. They will want the parts to check themselves. No company will take the word of a third party unknown gunsmith.
They've done more prefits than probably any other company out there and if they are saying they just recently started having issues with Defiance actions then I would believe them.

Then please tell me, if they had 5 in their shop last week and only 2 of those were within spec, how rare of a coincidence is it that my action, which is at least 4 months old, when compared to one that was just delivered from Defiance, is within .001.
Does that mean Defiance has been producing out of spec product for over 4 months and no one has realized it?
It all sounds like an easy excuse that can't be substantiated if it is all sent to them to assemble along with a "cya" policy that most won't follow through, as in my case
I am more than acceptant of the possibility of mistakes, and would be willing to work it out, but no one wants to deal with a person or company that their first statement when confronted with an issue is finger pointing rather than eagerness to find out the actual problem.
I only pointed my finger after confirming where the fault was. Their initial response was to blame others. There is a difference...You are finger pointing as much as you claim they are. Except they have their reputation at stake and why they are willing to fix your barrel and no longer make prefits for Defiance, so your issue doesn't happen to anyone else.
I recall a post mentioning a barrel that was off. Please show me where someone said the action was the problem. That is what this thread was created for.Well someone on this thread posted that that had one out of spec. So it's not unheard of. And if Carbon Six also has some out of spec, it's not a coincidence.
