The DE 338 was back into the action last nite whilst out glassing for Fallow.
I arrived after 5 pm and whilst getting my gear out of the car spotted these spotty little deer staring me down from a distant ridge.
Quickly ranging them at around 400 yards, I decided to climb the hill and stretch it a little.
Well I could back up only so far until I got to 626 on the first one.
PDA was flat.. bummer ! Pulled out my leupy tape, then knocked off .75 moa for angle of shot and up draft.
Wind from 7 o'clock 5 mph so dialled 1 moa left. cos.99 downhill BOOOOOOOM.. WHOOOSH .. WHOPP !
MAN DOWN , MAN DOWN !!!!!
The second one ran up the hill about 100 yards.. turned around and walked all the way back down the hill to deliver CPR to his fallen comrade.. Big mistake ! Settled in.. 2 clicks down.
Hold dead on.. BOOOOM WHOOOSH... WHOPP !!
Down he goes !!
Two nice eating size Fallow spikes shot 2 min apart. Both one shot a piece at 605 & 626 yards.
How could I contemplate updating my rifle ? I still dont know myself !
Hope you enjoy the read !
Cheers
